We did a shoot

Oh my, we had true girl fun last week, for the Etsy.
Lieveke is a pro at posing now ha.
It was Noor's first time.
She kept falling over, having mastered the sitting-skills only recently.
Other than that, I think she's really really into the red flashy dot of the camera.

I'm inspired by these wonderful pretty 'spaces' at the moment :

Misako Mimoko

and

Le Zigouis

and

Perdi of fio a meada.

Happy! You?

Ah

Ah, sometimes if you look at your stuff, it's actually quite colorful and fun. And the contrast! Gabriel says it reflects my soul. I'm sure it does. Black and white, and all the colors in between.

And yeah, I'm sewing again - hope to upload into Etsy this weekend. Poor Etsy, it's been quite empty for a while now, OK I'm trying to make amends... If you are very keen on any of the above - let me know and I can reserve, as I've already sold a few through OUI boutique, I can only put up one of each through Etsy.

Have a refreshing weekend!!!

Catching up...

...in the shop (so tied up with working at the gallery - I couldn't do an update last week, but hope you like this weeks'...). Tree pinnies and duckling dresses. Lieveke is such a poser!

ps scrolling down to Kimberlee's post, I recognise so many things and parts of Berlin, it makes me all melancholic and reminiscent...I've seen it change so much, having been there the first time before the fall of the wall even. Eh now you must think I'm old... I'm not I'm not, ha.

Some orange and aubergine stuff

Tomorrow I'll be heading back to work... Can't believe it all goes so fast. What a lovely time off we had. Noor is already 6 weeks, and she will keep me company at the gallery - we'll have a little cot there. I'm a little nervous, just a tad, just a tad.

1. funky vintage pussycat top, in the shop.
2. in Belgium we call these flowers 'rooster's combs', I love their fierce orange and spiky shape
3. aha new Nani. will be making skirt and dress, I think...
4. and I also love the vibrant colors of this Trade Aid note book - a gift from Kimberlee (she knows what I like eh). I use this lovely book for scribbles on my knitting projects. Tomorrow Kimberlee will do 'the big leap' overseas, Berlin-bound.
She's assured me that she'll keep posting on our blog, so we can all keep up with her adventures, soooo exciting! For now : safe travel my friend, I"ll miss ya oh oh sigh...

Pretty gift, sweet lisp

I've been scanning some fabricdetails for thank-you-cards, then printed the images on recycled 200 gsm paper. The result is very pretty (i think ha). The cards are just meant as give-aways and not for sale, I wouldn't feel comfortable making money from someone else's designs and efforts. I made a gathered dress for Gabriel's friend Mel's two year old Estelle, they came over from Melbourne to stay with us. Lieveke called it 'the lolly' dress, she made a beaded necklace for Estelle to go with the dress, all by herself. We wrapped the gifts in a funky newspaper blow-up of a red cabbage cut in half, and added one of the new cards.
Lieveke fell over yesterday, right on her mouth... It was all messy and bloody and Gabe and I got into an argument because we didn't really know what to do... We are not very together when our chick is in danger, sigh. Today the damage seems limited : one chipped front tooth and some scratching/teethmarks on the chin, although an xray this afternoon will tell more. The chick is twirling and summersaulting and what-notting as if nothing's happened, with an ever so sweet lisp.

PS : tonight I'll be adding the last 'blooms-dress' to Etsy (edit : it sold already!). -X Lies

Lovely lovely

... is what the new Echino fabrics are.

Rich images and colors, good strong linen/cotton blend. I've been singing while sewing with these! Making dresses and skirts for OUI boutique. Lievie shows them off, in her classic pose-then-jump-on bed way. She's wearing a favorite crochet top - by Trelise Cooper, iconic frilly Kiwi designer.

During our holiday-trip I knitted a lacey hearts-hat and tiny socks for little girl number two, with a super gentle 100% bamboo. First time that bamboo, but I'm hooked. Apparently even better than cotton for the baby's skin. We have a shortlist with 4 names now and yes, one favorite name... Exciting! I'm now officially into the 3rd trimester and the little girl is poking hands and feet out. Very cute.

Ah 't is good to be blogging again, I went here for fresh inspiration, all such talented designers :
-Tas-ka - most original eye on everything pretty
-Friedamaria - mesmerising photography, discovered via Fine little Day
-Flor de papel - beauty in paper, via Smosch

Oh : I'll be adding two more springbranch dresses to the Etsy shop tonight - they sold so fast last time... One very happy owner writes how 'poetic' the dress is, that's nice thanks!

Hello, back!

What a lovely break we had. We now have tan toes and refreshed souls. We (well I) scored the cutest pouch from this lovely lady at the Christmas Kraftbomb fair, stashed it with knitting essentials, raided the local shops for baby cashmerino and knitted our (well my) way through the sunny East coast of the North NZ Island. The booties are cuties, from this fabulously fun pattern. I knitted so much -plenty more pics later.
As far as new year resolutions, dare I write it, I'd like to post on our blog a bit more regularly, perhaps twice or thrice a week, but we'll see how we go, 2009 is going to be a big one with a new little one... Ah, must add a photo of the very first pinafore of the new year, more about it in here.

I wish you all a lovely lovely 2009 and btw : thanks so for your comments and feedback in 2008. Through the Christmas craze/break anemone had it's second birthday - we must celebrate this in the coming weeks. I'm making a few 'gift-baskets' to send to some dear blog-friends - but we'll have little give-aways for all.

it's about time

animal print scarf

vintage patchwork scarf

vintage rose garden scarf

Yes it is about time that I added some things to our etsy. Its been ages which is why I am so lucky that my fantastic crafting partner is so on top of things (thank you Lies for keeping the shop going!).

It is indeed summer here and I am trying to embrace the fact that summer and Christmas go together in this part of the world. The last couple of years I have stuck to my motto of "its not reeeeallly Christmas." Well guess what, it is. And it's about time I got used to it. Sunny days, bright colours, breezy scarves, and Christmas!

updates and updates

we are trying to be more regular about this, but here it is, as promised, new stuff in the SHOP.

which is good because rumour has it there will not be another craftwerk for a wee while as the organisers are trying to sort out funding and issues with K'road business association. I only know this because I pester them periodically. And I promise to keep you local lovelies updated as best as I can. You hear it here first friends.

Now here's some craft

First of all : a big thank you for putting up with my grumpy 'got too much on my plate so gotta do my long snake moan' of the previous post. You are kind ones. Thanks dears for your encouraging comments. Even Lieveke was telling me 'relax ma'.

The lovely (promised!) news is that heh heh I did get a whole lot of craftiness done this week and that feels very very satistfying.

Because in our Etsy shop, we're about to have the 50th purchase, I want to throw a tiny party and so the purchasers of item #50, item #51 and item #52 will be gifted with a little handmade extra. I actually love sneeking little surprises in (those of you that had a new baby or bought more than one item know!) and thinking up little things that will make someone smile kinda is great fun. I'll also add a few new little girls-garments to the shop tonight, including these 'kimono-pinafores'. I'm very happy with the way these pinnies have turned out -I used some authentic Mameyakko kimono cottons.

For OUI boutique, I've made some flower-dresses for 2 to 3 year olds with Noami Ito's stunning Fuccra fabrics in black and yellow. I must admit - and I fall in love with all the textiles i use- I'm making a black one for Lieveke too, just too beautiful. If you want one (***I've enough for one more black one*** edit : last of the black on hold for Kirsten! - and not enough yellow sadly) let me know...

Ah, and Im currently also making leggings. I've finally gotten over my fobia for knits and stretchy fabric, found some yum stretchy cotton in turqouise/green and coral/red and well hello my stripy ones! Umph the sewing is 'technically' going well but it took me a few pattern-drafts (and reject-sews) to get the sizing right... At first I made a pair for a 6 month to 1 year old bub with way-too-wide-flapping legs. No good cause I want them nicely and sleekly hugging the leg. Then I made a 1 years to 2 years pair without a bum (yes i forgot to allow extra space for those 'sexy curves'...). I'm proud to report I now have the two sizes more or less 'drafted', and the test-driver Lieveke was pleasantly chuffed with her new 'legs' as she calls them.

I just love those little test-toes to bits. I want to nibble them right now.
Ok I'm sure you'll agree that I'm over my grump.

X Lies
